A massage, a good massage should be an essential part of your life.
I’ve been hearing my friends rave about the benefits of a good massage for a while now bur I’ve never really been sold on the idea. Maybe it’s the idea of being so relaxed around someone I don’t know or maybe I have intimacy issues. Whatever it is, it’s just not been at the top of my list of things to do……well that may be about to change.
The other day went for my first massage. When I say first, I’m of course referring to a professional massage. I’ve had partners over the years who have attempted to ease my stress and tension and while there would have been some level of success, it’s nothing compared to the feeling I was left with after my first professional massage.
A friend of mine had bought a voucher for the service and as the voucher was about to expire and he was out of the country, he offered it to me for free and I gladly took it.
The therapist was working from a hair salon so as I stepped through the doors, I wasn’t sure I was in the right place. For one, I’m not a lady and two, I don’t have much hair to work with. Anyway, I was greeted pleasantly and then I informed to take a seat and relax as the therapist will be right with me.
When she arrived she spoke with a tone that immediately made an impact on me. I’m not sure if this was part of the experience but it certainly did help me relax. She led me downstairs to a room with a massage bed, scented candles lit and some smooth Jazz teasing in the background. Again, my body just automatically got more relaxed.
Let’s Get it On
Then she politely asked me to remove everything but my underwear, lay on the bed face down, cover myself with a towel and ring the bell once I was ready.
I have never experienced anything so relaxing in all my life. She could tell exactly where my tension was and applied the right techniques to help alleviate the stress. It felt like she knew my body better than me.
Needless to say, the 45 minute session felt like it ended way too soon and if there wasn’t a booking after mine, I would have definitely paid for more then and there. I finally got the chance to appreciate a good massage.
Now, I try to get a massage at least once every fortnight. I’m not a scientist so I can’t explain why but it will make such a difference to your well being and quality of life.
I believe it’s a chemistry thing as well in that not every masseuse will be right for you. Once you find one that works for you though, you will know.
The best way to find a masseuse that can deliver a good massage that’s right for you is to get a voucher from Groupon or Mighty Deals or any of those daily deal sites. Once you find one that’s right for you though, you can buy directly from them.
